Be a Blessing to Someone Today

Posted By Rol on Feb 19, 2026

Rol here. You know, it’s important to start your day off in a good direction. One of the best ways to do that is to pray before you get out of bed. And two quick prayers I recommend to start things in motion are:

  • God, what can I do for you?
  • Please help me to be a blessing to someone today.

Now, the answer to the first prayer may actually be the second prayer, so let’s focus on that.

Being a blessing to someone each day can mean many things, and will most likely involve different people and different blessings from day to day. At the beginning, you can be intentional about a person or act of kindness, and those can be decided as you wake up and get ready for the day, or at some other point during the day. After a while, you’ll find it just comes natural. Don’t overthink it and feel that it has to be a monumental effort or moment…it can be simple, and often surprisingly becomes quite easy to do.

Examples:

When you finish breakfast—it’s always good to eat breakfast—clean up your bowl or plate or whatever so nobody has to clean up for you. You can even offer to clean up after someone else.

Give a family member a hug.

If you see someone with their arms full of items and one falls to the ground, reach down and pick it up for them. You can even offer to lessen their load by carrying something for them.

Say something positive about someone. Maybe that you appreciate something they did for you, or that you noticed when they were kind to someone, or even that you appreciate them as a friend.

As you can see, it really doesn’t take much to be a blessing to someone. It can be a simple moment that really makes someone’s day. And, if you are ambitious, you can be a blessing throughout the day, in many ways. Try that sometimes.

I really appreciate that you spent a few moments reading this, and I hope you have a blessed (and blessing to others) day.
